Plant engineers and maintenance personnel tasked with ensuring the reliable operation of positive air pressure and exhaust ventilation systems for clean rooms, laboratories, analytical rooms or production areas will find the FLT93F Flow Controller of Fluid Components International (FCI) provides them with a highly sensitive and reliable solution to monitor and alert if their system is degrading, not performing to specification or has shut down.

Positive air pressure and exhaust ventilation systems are designed to ensure that contaminants are continually prevented from entering an area or are removed from an area to maintain a safe and healthy enclosed environment. These systems are found in a wide range of environments, such as clean rooms, research labs, and the production environment, as well as analysis rooms and sheltered areas. Many industries use these systems, including the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and medical industries, as well as chemical plants, refineries, and power plants.

These specialized room air systems use fans to maintain a higher than ambient air pressure environment inside a designated area to ensure clean, contamination-free air and/or fans to powerful extraction to eliminate dangerous fumes. The FCI model FLT93F flowmeter is specially designed for air and gas flow detection. It both responds quickly and is able to detect even very slight changes in airflow. They are available in a variety of process connections to facilitate installation in most sizes of pipe, vent or conduit. Its universal power supply supports 115 VAC, 230VAC or 24 VDC power supply. Its trip/alarm points are easily user definable in the field during installation. It comes standard with fail-safe dual alarm (SPDT) or DPDT relay outputs, rated for 6 amps at 115 VAC, 240 VAC, or 24 VDC.

The flow sensor element of the FLT93F flow switch is fully welded and constructed from premium 316L stainless steel. It has no moving parts to break or vents to clog or clog, so no routine maintenance is required. The flow control instrument is available in a choice of rugged all-metal enclosures that are NEMA 4X/IP66 rated for long life in the most demanding installations and environments. The electronics can be integrated into the flow element or mounted remotely away from hazardous areas.

For applications in potentially explosive dust or gas environments, the FLT93F is also suitable for installation in Div.1/Zone 1 and certified to local FM, FMc, ATEX, IECEx, NEPSI, EAC, Inmetro standards , UKCA and EQM/ECAS. It also complies with CE directives for EMC and LVD and the flow element meets the requirements of the Canadian Electrical Code ANSI/ISA 12.27.01-2011 as a single joint device.
